General Terms and Conditions

The right equipment!

  • Warm, windproof and rainproof clothing. It is usually cooler on the water than on land and the weather can change quickly. Warm rainwear is particularly important in the first months May and June.
  • Don't forget spare clothes and shoes!
  • Sailing, neoprene or sneakers with light-colored soles or rubber boots;
  • Sun/rain protection;
  • Food and drinks for the breaks;
  • Signed rules of participation;
  • ...and of course lots of good humor, then sailing is fun!

Segelcamp Kiel provides all participants with a solid-fuel life jacket free of charge.

The course can only start after successful check-in in the entrance tent, for which the signed rules of participation are required.

Requirements for trial sailing!

  • The Kiel sailing camp is open to everyone.
  • Every participant must have at least the bronze swimming badge or, in exceptional cases, the corresponding disclaimer.
  • The age specifications for the individual sailing courses and offers must be adhered to.
  • All participants must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian as long as they are under the age of majority. Class teachers or group leaders are responsible for this and accompany their group.

Sailing is a team sport!

  • Every participant should always behave in a fair, sporting and team-oriented manner. The staff of Segelcamp Kiel must be obeyed during the course and on the premises of Segelcamp Kiel.
  • Safe and considerate behavior on the water and on land helps everyone.
  • During the practical courses, collisions between boats must be avoided.
  • In emergency situations, the course instructor or the staff of Segelcamp Kiel should be informed immediately.

Healthy sailing is better!

  • The participant's general state of health must permit water sports and he/she must not suffer from seizure disorders such as epilepsy. In the case of slight health restrictions (e.g. asthma) of the participants, this information and, if necessary, the special treatment/observation must be communicated in writing and in detail by the parents, legal guardians, teachers or group leaders to the sailing camp Kiel (especially the sailing coaches). The necessary medication must be carried by the participant during the entire course. The participant should introduce him/herself personally to the respective sailing instructor in good time before the start of the course.
  • If it is desired that the participant should not participate in one or more program points for health or other reasons, Kiel-Marketing GmbH must be informed of this in writing in good time before the start of the course.
  • Registration for the program also includes a bathing permit for the participant.
  • Any form of alcohol consumption or other intoxicants is prohibited. Alcoholized persons may not enter the Segelcamp grounds, the jetty or the boats. Exceptions to this are any special events outside of course times.
  • Healthy arrives: Segelcamp Kiel is a smoke-free area, with the exception of special events. This must be observed and also applies on board the boats.

Safety arrives!

  • For safety reasons, it may be necessary to cancel, restrict or change the program at any time. This applies in particular in the event of fog, storms or thunderstorms. As the weather situation cannot be influenced, no course fees or other costs for downtime can be refunded.
  • Participants will be supervised by staff of Segelcamp Kiel for the duration of the planned course. Unless an earlier end is agreed in consultation with the parents or legal guardians or group leaders.
  • Life jackets are provided for everyone and must be put on before entering the jetty and worn during the entire time on the water.
  • The leading sailing instructors at Segelcamp Kiel are highly trained. They have the legally required qualifications, extensive experience in the field of sailing training as well as first aid training and a lifeguard license.
  • First aid equipment is available and marked accordingly on land: They are located, among other places, in the reception tent (10x10 pagoda) on the grounds of the Segelcamp Kiel. In addition, the sailing coaches carry first aid materials on the coach boats. Please contact the Segelcamp staff if required.

Well insured/ our liability!

  • Segelcamp Kiel has an insurance package with Provinzial. This package includes organizer liability insurance and boat liability insurance. Segelcamp Kiel is liable for personal injury and damage to property within the scope of the existing insurance contracts.
  • If the damage is not covered by the existing insurance policies, our liability for contractual breaches of duty and tort is limited to intent and gross negligence.
  • This does not apply to injury to life, limb and health of the participant, claims for breach of cardinal obligations, i.e. obligations arising from the nature of the contract, the breach of which jeopardizes the achievement of the purpose of the contract and compensation for damage caused by delay (§ 286 BGB). In this respect, we shall be liable for any degree of culpability. Liability in the event of a breach of material contractual obligations shall be limited to the regularly foreseeable damage.
  • The aforementioned exclusion of liability also applies to slightly negligent breaches of duty by our vicarious agents.
  • Insofar as liability for damages that are not based on injury to life, limb or health of the participant is not excluded for slight negligence, such claims shall become time-barred within one year, starting from the date on which the claim arises.
  • The aforementioned limitations of liability also apply in the event of loss of/damage to items that the participant has brought with him/her for the duration of the stay on our premises.
  • We are not liable for accidents caused by the participant him/herself. A self-inflicted accident may occur if the damage was caused by a violation of the participation rules.
  • In the case of accidents for which Segelcamp Kiel is not responsible, insurance cover is generally provided by the relevant social insurance provider (e.g. statutory health or accident insurance). However, this is the responsibility of the participants, their legal representatives, the school, clubs or other institutions. An additional accident insurance for the participants and guests has not been taken out by the organizer of the Segelcamp Kiel. In this context, we would like to draw your attention to the conclusion of a corresponding safety/insurance package. No liability is accepted for any soiled, damaged or lost clothing/objects.

Withdrawal and rebooking

  • You can withdraw from your booked course at any time before it begins. Kiel-Marketing GmbH reserves the right to charge cancellation fees. Cancellation fees generally amount to 20% of the course price per individual service to be provided by Kiel-Marketing GmbH up to the 30th day before the start of the course; 29th - 22nd day = 25%; 21st - 14th day = 50%; 13th - 7th day = 75%; from the 6th - 1st day = 80%; on the day of the start of the course or in the event of non-commencement of the course 100% of the course price or the price stated in the booking confirmation. These cancellation fees may also be charged for group bookings for a lower actual number of participants than the number booked.
  • You are at liberty to provide evidence of lower costs in any case. In order to avoid misunderstandings, the declaration of withdrawal must be made in writing by e-mail to info@segelcamp-kiel.de. The date of receipt of the declaration by Kiel-Marketing GmbH is decisive.
  • A rebooking can only be made by canceling and rebooking a course. In this case, the above cancellation fees apply.

What else is worth knowing and paying attention to?

  • The Segelcamp Kiel is a non-commercial and public project. Its aim is to convey the fun and enjoyment of water sports. The taster sailing offers are intended to provide initial and positive insights into this sport. The focus is on fun and the shared experience. We therefore deliberately do not offer the acquisition of certificates or official diplomas. Further sailing training should take place in sailing clubs and commercial sailing schools. We recommend the water sports brochure "Leinen los!" for choosing the right club or water sports school.
  • Part of the Segelcamp program is run by third parties (e.g. Segelcamp partners, sailing and water sports clubs, sailing schools). The respective conditions of the partners apply to these courses.
  • Courses may not be able to take place if the number of participants is too low. In addition, the situation may require that a group is split up during the course (e.g. into a theory and practice group) and thus, for example, it is not possible to sail together at the same time. This may be the case, for example, for sailing cutter trips with 25 or more participants.
  • In certain wind and weather conditions, the motor may be used instead of the sail. We ask for your understanding.
  • The participants agree that the personal data will be archived by Kiel-Marketing for 10 years in accordance with proper bookkeeping. Disclosure to third parties is excluded.
  • No liability can be accepted for the loss of or damage to personal items, so please take good care of your belongings. Tip: Do not take any valuables with you.
  • Should parts of these rules violate mandatory legal regulations in whole or in part, the corresponding legal regulation shall take their place. In case of doubt, this does not affect the entirety of the contract and the rules.

We wish and look forward to a wonderful time together on the course! Cast off with Kiel!
